Laminate upstands are not fire retardant, and, as such, a fitter will need to refer to the hob manufacturers guidelines to find out the minimum distance they can be installed behind the hob. If the walls on which a fitter intends to install the upstands are a shorter distance from the hob than the minimum safety requirements, we would recommend using the following as an alternative:
- EGGER Splashbacks – with a thickness of 9mm, the thinner material might be suitable for required appliance distances instead of an upstand
- An ESG glass pane must be fitted over the top of our backboards where a gas hob is fitted
- Stainless steel splashback
- Glass splashback
